History of Kanpur Memorial Church
This church was constructed to honour the British soldiers and civilians who lost their lives during the 1857 Siege of Cawnpore. The memorial speaks of the massacre in Kanpur Barracks, marked as one of the most tragic events in Kanpur’s history. It also mentions the betrayal of Nana Sahib, nicknaming him the Butcher of Cawnpore.
It was constructed in 1875 as a memorial to those who perished. Today, it serves as both a place of worship and a historical monument.
